IGaCoS High Schools “embrace” the World PDF Print E-mail

Come March 18 – 19, 2010, All public high schools in Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS) will be proudly announcing “MAY INTERNET NA KAMI” as top Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) Executives, GILAS Team, DepEd officials and IGaCoS LGU Officials led by City Mayor Aniano P. Antalan will jointly conduct the turn over ceremony for the last phase of the installation of Project GILAS (Gearing up Internet Literacy and Access to Students). After a more than a year of hardwork, series of meetings, deliveries and installations of the computers, servers, network peripherals and internet facilities, the completion of the project has yet to come. The last school beneficiaries of the project are the Tagbitan-ag National High School, Don Esteban Dasalla National High School, Mambago-B National High School (San Antonio Annex) and Sta. Cruz National High School. Overall there are thirteen public high schools are already connected to the internet with a total of one hundred seventy nine (179) computer sets intalled.

The Project GILAS in IGaCoS officially came into light in June 17, 2008 with a cost sharing partnership between the City Government of IGaCoS and GILAS totalling to 3.1 million pesos aiming to connect 13 public high schools of the city to the internet. The LGU fund amounting to 1.2 million pesos is being appropriated for the installation of wireless internet facilities and computer units of some schools.

GILAS fund of 1.9 million is intended for the provision of some computer units, servers LAN and networking peripherals which was supported by the Mitsubishi Corporation, while its appropriation for one year internet subsidy is sponsored by Globe. (donifox)
