2020 Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) - January 3 - 24, 2020..

The one-week extension of Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) in the Island Garden City of Samal ends on January 24, 2020, at Samal Multi-purpose Gymnasium. As of this writing, 2,287 business owners renewed their permit and 465 new applicants. The renewal and registration of business permits start last January 3, 2020.

The flow of getting business permits becomes smoother due to the established in-house system, a unified integration system that could links to all departments within the local government premises. One of the established systems is the connection of all regulators during the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS), timely in the implementation of the ease of doing business, the zero contact policy.

The system is convenient for both clients and regulators. The client doesn't need to transact face to face with every regulator. However, the appearance of the business owner is necessary if she/he has a previous violation. Through the system, the document runs and processed until it reaches the last step.

This is in line with Republic Act No.11032 otherwise known as Ease of Doing Business Act, aims to fast-tract the system in business permitting and licensing system

Thus, the procedure of business permits and licenses trimmed down to a mere three-step process. The permit will be released within an hour or less than one hour as long as there is no previous violation. The first step was the interview and assessment; the second step was the payment, and the third step was the approval and releasing.

“Dali ra gyud kayo karon magkuha og business permit, murag kada tuig naga improve ang sistema sa Business One Stop shop. Wala ra naabtan og medya oras akong pag kuha sa permit. Didto ra ko medyo na dugay sa pag kuha og certification kay daghan man mi nag pila. Elsie P. Bacus said, fish vendor, Babak Public Market.

One of the established systems was a color-coding queuing number that was given to the clients. As such, green for new applicants, blue for renewal, while red for senior citizens, PWD, and pregnant women. Each queuing number will appear on the monitor screen with the corresponding lane where they will be serving.

Application and interview, and presentation of all requirements done in the first step, then the document forwarded to step two for assessment and payment. The final scrutinization has done in the last step, which the approval and release of the permit.

“After the systems were all set up, the next thing I should look to is to scrutinize the renewal of permits because there are some misdeclarations of income. Second, tutukan nako ang kanang nag sige’g new or nag bag-o og pangalan. Daghan ang nag retired pero nag padayon gihapon og operate.” Ernesto Tundaan Head of Bureau of Regulatory Division said.
